Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

A recipe with sour cream makes this banana bread moist and delicious. Lots of chocolate chips won't hurt either. The video below is the recipe source, with some variations.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 overripe bananas
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions: How to make sour cream banana bread?

1. Preheat oven to 350 deg F. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper. Grease paper with baking spray or butter as preferred.

2. In a medium bowl, mash the bananas. The video below uses wholesome yellow bananas, but browning bananas are better for banana bread, in general.

3. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

4. In another large bowl, add the wet ingredients, namely, melted butter, sugar, large egg, egg yolk, sour cream and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended.

5. Add mashed banana to the wet ingredients and continue to mix.

6. Add dry ingredients and fold into a batter. Slowly add chocolate chips while continuing to fold. Save some to garnish the top unless you have plenty of extra chocolate chips from its packaging.

7. The source video uses walnuts along with chocolate chip. I made them all chocolate chips.

8. Pour batter into loaf pan and flatten top as necessary. Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top if desired.

9. Baked for 1 hour. Poke the middle of the bread with a toothpick. If toothpick comes out clean, then bread is ready.

10. Remove bread from pan and cool on a rack for 10 minutes or more before serving.

Enjoy!
