Dark Chocolate Tart Recipe

dark chocolate tart recipe

This dark chocolate tart is easy to make. It's delicious, too. I'm using the video below as the source recipe. It's easy to follow. But I'm only using the recipe for the filling. Instead of making my own tart shell, I'm just using a pre-made shell that's available in my local grocery store.

Dark Chocolate Tart Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 pre-made tart shell (9-inch)
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz bittersweet chocolate (chips or chopped)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup hot coffee (no creme)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions: How to make chocolate tart

1. Preheat oven to 350 deg F.

2. In a medium sauce pan, heat cream and butter up to simmer on low-med setting. In a large mixing bowl, add chocolate. On a side note, I try using dark chocolate over milk chocolate. I feel that dark chocolate is just healthier.

3. Pour melted cream and butter over chocolate and let them soften the chocolate for a few seconds. Stir until well blended and chocolate is completely melted.

4. Add sugar and coffee. Continue stirring until well combined.

5. In a separate bowl, lightly beat eggs. Add eggs and vanilla extract to melted chocolate and continue to stir.

6. Pour melted chocolate mix into tart shell and bake for 12 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool for 20 minutes or so, then refrigerate over night before serving.

Do chocolate tarts need to be refrigerated?

Chocolate tarts and tart pastries, in general, taste better when they are chilled. You don't want them runny. Hence, you should always refrigerate them, at least, overnight. So plan ahead. You can serve them after a few hours of chilling, but overnight always makes for the best presentation.

Enjoy!

Now, here's the source video. Keep in mind that I only used the filling recipe. It has a shell recipe, too, and it's a good watch.
