sweet roll bread and butter pudding recipe
This delicious bread & butter pudding is amazing. The source video is below, but I'm using sweet rolls torn into chunk instead of bread that's been cut up into squares. The result is nothing short of amazing.

Sweet Roll Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • 18 sweet rolls
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • powdered sugar

Directions: How to make bread and butter pudding

1) Make the custard sauce by adding eggs, vanilla and sugar into a medium-to-large mixing bowl. Using a whisk, stir until well-combined. Add milk and continue to stir.

2) Cut sweet rolls into cubes. Or just tear off chunks from each roll until they're all in bite-sized pieces.

3) Place cubes or chunks of sweet rolls in a 9-inch baking dish. Pour the custard sauce into the baking dish, covering as much of the sweet rolls as possible.

4) Allow to soak for 10 minutes in the fridge. Preheat oven to 350 deg F.

5) Before placing baking dish in oven, cut off butter into several cubes. Place butter cubes on top of the sweet rolls and spaced out evenly.

6) Bake for 50 minutes. The pudding is done when it passes the toothpick test (toothpick comes out clean when it's poke in the middle of the pudding).

7) Remove and cool for a 10 minutes. Sprinkle powdered sugar as desired.

8) Serve and enjoy!

Do you put eggs in bread pudding?

In this bread pudding recipe, eggs are used as the main thickening agent for the custard sauce. Whole eggs (yolks and white) are used for a rich flavor. There are plenty of vegan options out there for custard sauce. You can even buy vegan custard powder mix instead of using this recipe.
