Snickerdoodle Cookies

A classic favorite. Perfect snack or desserts. These snickerdoodle cookies are soft, thick and fluffy. Yummy!

Ingredients for the Cookie:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar*
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Ingredients for the Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons clear sparkling sugar optional
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions: How to make snickerdoodle cookies?

1) Preheat oven to 400 deg F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2) In a medium to large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add egg. Continue to mix until well blended.

3) Add egg yolk and vanilla extract. Continue to mix until well blended.

4) Add the rest of the dry cookie ingredients (flour, cornstarch, cream of tartar, baking soda, kosher salt and ground cinnamon). Continue to mix until smooth.

5) In a small bowl, combine sugar coating ingredients and mix properly.

6) Using an ice cream scoop or tablespoon, scoop from the dough, dip it in the sugar coating bowl and roll it into a ball until the scoop is covered completely.

7) Place the ball onto the baking sheet. Repeat steps until dough is completely used up. Be sure to leave enough room for each ball to expand while baking.

8) Bake for 6-10 minutes. Remove from oven.

9) Serve!
